PROPHETIC Healing and Deliverance Ministries (PHD) leader Walter Magaya who was charged on allegations of rape has reportedly paid US$200 000 to first lady Grace Mugabe so that he can be spared from the rape allegations.
Sources this week said Magaya sent the parcel through Grace’s loyalist, Sarah Mahoka, last week on Wednesday.
“Mahoka was given US$200 000 to give Grace so that she can influence direction of the case,” the source said.
This comes at a time when Grace has been pushing her husband President Robert Mugabe to stop Magaya prosecution.
Sources said before his arrest, Grace, via a telephone conversation, notified him that he was going to be arrested so he had to prepare for his defence.
Magaya is said to have been financing Grace’s political manoeuvres as she seeks to replace her aging husband in the succession wrangle engulfing Zanu PF.
Magaya was arrested and arraigned before the courts on allegations of raping a 25 year old woman last year in July.
Magaya was arrested on Friday night and detained at Rhodesville police station.
He appeared before magistrate Vakai Chikwekwe who granted him $2 000 bail coupled with stringent reporting conditions.
Magaya arrived at the courts without cuffs after courts had already closed and the magistrate had to be recalled from home.Ends
